about
I have never found it easy to find inner peace. So much so, that I actually don’t know if it exists. I’ll never stop trying to find it, but until then, I need euphoria. I find beauty in the darkness and the joy. I know that the highs and lows are where the best parts of life live. The quiet peace often leaves too much room for debilitating pain - I find hope in the extreme.
I know sometimes - oftentimes even, we do insane things to feel something, in order to remind ourselves we are alive when peace can’t be found. These things can be ‘healthy’ and sustainable (according to the doctors and therapists and life-long masters of peace), or they can be unhealthy and totally unsustainable.
I have tried the right and the wrong way to feel alive and be ok with myself. I am sure you have too. So has my friend, my father, my mother, my daughter, my sister. We all have. Not much angers me more than when people point fingers or scoff at how others find their own type of peace or comfort or ecstasy. “We are all invited to the guillotine, because justice is priority even if it’s false, but I live here now”.
We are here for our entire lives. This song is about accepting that; accepting ourselves along the way, and others, as we all sit here and simply live with ourselves.
lyrics
Is that water I hear laughing
Or are the streets just crying?
The clouds stare in silence as always
The clouds know everything
There’s a bigger picture
Than even the one you can see
It’s not just about how to love
It’s about getting close
And I’m sick of the fight too
But peace, it never brought me peace
Still miles to go
I live here now
Well you’re beautiful
But I feel beautiful when you’re around
And we’re all invited to guillotine
‘Cause justice is priority, even if it’s false
But I live here now
And I’m sick of the fight too
But peace, it never brought me peace
Ooooh, and I’m sick of the fight too
Mmmm, but peace, it never brought me peace
Still miles to go
I live here now
